OUR HISTORY
In July of 2000, Crossroads opened the doors of its first group home to provide behavior modification in a residential setting to at-risk girls from Mercer and surrounding counties. This home is currently located at 1243 Roemer Boulevard, in the city of Farrell. The primary goal of the
home was to teach the girls the skills necessary to successfully reintegrate back into their families and communities or prepare them for independent living arrangements. Regardless of the plan of action, ultimately, the common goal was to become better decision makers and thus productive citizens.

On January 2nd, 2001, Crossroads became a licensed Private Provider of Alternative Education by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This allowed us to educate our female residents at the facility and receive additional funding from the home school districts of our residents. At this time, we also began receiving referrals for disruptive female students from the Farrell Area School District.

The company experienced great success early on and quickly grew from a six-bed home into a twenty four-bed facility in less than twelve months. Crossroads, Inc. outgrew the physical capacity of its original facility and purchased an additional building, located directly across the street at 1246 Roemer Boulevard, in April of 2002. This addition enabled Crossroads Group Homes and Services, Inc. and Crossroads Alternative Education to provide support programs for both boys and girls in gender specific facilities.

In February of 2004, Crossroads was fortunate enough to be able to   open a third facility, located at 1301 Roemer Boulevard. This facility   provided residential and educational services for those female youth in   need of supervised independent living arrangements. This facility is   also   conveniently located at “crossroads” alongside the other two   facilities  already in operation.

Currently, three founding partners continue to serve as corporate   officers alongside 45 employees. Today, Crossroads, Inc.   contracts  with 10 Pennsylvania counties and 5 local school districts.
